Dear Reader,

My name is Brittany Krochmalnek-Kaye, but please, just “Kaye” is fine. I was a student at Champlain College Saint-Lambert's Creative Arts program, and would love to be a part of Concordia's Film Animation. My interests range from the cute and fluffy, to the dark and mysterious. I drew my first ever drawing in 6th grade, and haven't stopped since. But when I did my first digital piece in grade 8, my whole world changed. I was absolutely dumbfounded by the endless possibilities I was presented with in order to make my art better, and to improve on skills I never knew I even had. Ever since then, I have been wanting to learn more about art, and to give more life to the ever-growing list of characters I have created.

By joining the Film Animation program, I hope to discover the real work that goes into the cartoons and the animations that I would watch as a child. My imagination is always expanding and going over the top with ideas; but sometimes these brilliant ideas are my downfall. The amount of detail I put into each idea causes me to work even longer on just one aspect, therefore, time management is a weakness. However, my teachers have told me that my strengths are in 2D Imaging / Animation, which includes storyboarding. This is due to my over productive imagination and in-depth stories in which I create. My teachers have also told me that, when I draw my characters, they come alive with expression and gesture. This is due to my many years of exploration of technique and development. I hope that the Film Animation program will not only help me improve on the skills I already have, but to help me discover and expand on the ones I don’t even know I possess.

The future is now, but it all begins with a dream. I hope mine will begin at Concordia, where I will learn, improve, and grow into someone I can be proud of.

Thank you for your time to read my letter, and to consider me being a part of Concordia’s family. Have a great day,

     Brittany Krochmalnke-Kaye
